Having attained an Honours Degree from Liverpool University Dr Glenn completed a PhD in Molecular Biology from Leeds University in 1995 and travelled to New Zealand for a Postdoctoral role at Genesis Research and Development, a start-up biotech firm. Dr Glenn developed Genesis Research’s high throughput DNA sequencing group and became the Head of the Genomics Division which included the largest DNA sequencing facility in the Southern Hemisphere at that time. The Genomics Division was a fully integrated genomic technology platform of approximately 100 staff that operated 24 hours a day 7 days a week. As a member of the Executive Team, Dr Glenn was involved in the 2000 NZX/ASZ IPO of Genesis.
After 8 years at Genesis Research, Dr Glenn moved to Fonterra, a farmer owned dairy cooperative and New Zealand’s largest company. As the Portfolio Manager, Dr Glenn was involved in innovation strategy, project portfolio management and capability management.
Dr Glenn then became the GM Research and Business Development for Ballance Agri-nutrients, a farmer own fertilizer cooperative. Dr Glenn led Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, Research & Development and Extension, Communications and PR.
Dr Glenn then spent five years in Management Consulting specializing in the areas of strategic planning, portfolio management and capability management.
Dr Glenn spent four and half years as CEO of Hill Laboratories, New Zealand’s largest private analytical testing service. Head quartered in Hamilton with over 400 staff, Hill’s had labs in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Blenheim and Christchurch and serviced the Agricultural, Environmental and Food testing markets.
Dr Glenn joined Robotics Plus in June 2018, after securing US$10m investment from Yamaha Motor Company in October 2018, RPL has grown from approximately 10 staff to over 40 Engineers developing robotic solutions for Agriculture and the food and fibre industries.
